Dr Chris Bonett was elected to Parliament in March 2022 from the fourth district and was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds. He is currently serving as Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works.
In 2007, he earned a Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Malta and in 2014, he graduated with a Master of Law degree in Sports Law from De Montfort University in Leicester.
Minister Bonett previously served as Vice President and Head of the Legal and Football Governance Department of the Malta Football Association (MFA). He also held the position of UEFA Integrity Officer and was a member of the UEFA Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body.
Dr Bonett served as Mayor of Gżira between 2007 and 2012, where he led various significant projects in the locality such as the opening of a Community Centre, the Gżira Public Library, an artificial turf training pitch for Gżira United Football Club, the embellishment of the Council of Europe Gardens, and other infrastructural projects.
